Kayla has shown exceptional leadership in advocating for underserved communities in healthcare such as the homeless population and the LGBTQIA+ community. Her continued commitment to serving her community was demonstrated by her leadership positions in a student-run free mobile clinic in Los Angeles as well as her health justice project advocating for transgender healthcare equality on Capitol Hill.
Kayla has been dedicated to improving student education with her work as a grant writer for a district wide program that assisted low-income high school students in finding employment while balancing schoolwork. Additionally, she was elected to serve as a Student of Medical Education Committee Member on her medical school executive council for four consecutive years where she worked closely with the administration to improve medical student curriculum.
