Nishita Pondugula is a 4th year medical student at the Yale School of Medicine. She received a BA in religious studies and a BSA in neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the role of religion in federal conscience protections in US healthcare. Now, she is enjoying clinical research related to OB/GYN, including studying surgical rates and risk factors related to endometriosis, TOLAC counseling, quality improvement, and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV in women's health clinics. She is also working on identifying public health needs of Kazakh populations impacted by Chinese detention policies. Nishita is now also pursuing a dual degree in Master of Bioethics (MBE) at Harvard University. Nishita's interest in bioethics centers on reproductive ethics and health justice. After completing the MBE, Nishita plans to pursue residency training in obstetrics and gynecology.
