My interest in medical education began in my Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship and was sparked by my former fellowship director, Dr. Brian Brost. During that time my work in medical education began with the development and validation of task trainers in chorionic villus sampling, in-utero stenting, and cervical cerclage. After graduation from fellowship in 2011, I joined the faculty at Wake Forest University. As the Associate OB/Gyn Residency Director for Simulation and the Associate Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program Director, I have worked to introduce and rapidly expand the use of simulation in the training of our medical students, residents, and fellows. I also serve as a member of the ACOG Simulation Working Group and SMFM’s Simulation Subcommittee, through which I have served as director and faculty for several simulation courses for Obstetric emergencies and ultrasound guided invasive procedures held at national and regional meetings. My greatest interest lies in the training and assessment of procedural skills. I spend most of my non-clinical time developing and validating a novel ultrasound guided invasive procedure task trainer and targeting curriculum Dr. Brost and I created.
