Kimberlee McKay, MD, FACOG is a graduate of Sanford Medical School at the University of South Dakota and attended the University of Kansas-Wichita for residency. She is a collaborative physician executive at the forefront of transforming healthcare delivery through technology-driven innovation, leading to significant changes in healthcare payment and policy. With almost ten years of system-level leadership experience, she has secured nearly $14 Million in external funding to pilot next-generation community models. She develops new methods of care delivery through engagement with key stakeholders including Indian Health Services, South Dakota Medicaid, South Dakota Department of Health, and Premier Inc. She serves as the Director of Medical Research at the Avera Research Institute and is the medical officer for their NIH IMPROVE initiative: MARCH. She is a voice for rural maternity care policy reform through participation in national and regional initiatives, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Maternal Rural Health Summit, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Council on Patient Safety, and the South Dakota Maternal Mortality Task Force, and has become a nationally recognized leader for rural maternal health.
