Thammatat (Juwee) Vorawandthanachai, MD is a PGY-2 at Maimonides Medical Center. He previously received his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As an immigrant and a grandchild of refugees, Juwee has experienced and witnessed firsthand the effects of healthcare barriers on patients and their communities. These experiences drive his long-term goals of advocating for health equity and social justice in his clinical work, research, and community-oriented advocacy through the lens of Ob/Gyn. Juwee’s research interests include inequities in obstetric and gynecological care, anti-racism in healthcare practice and medical education, and reproductive justice. He hopes that these studies will promote interventions in medical education to equip learners with concrete skills to address these disparities in their clinical practice. Juwee sees research as a tool to reveal disparities in our society with the long-term goals of advocating for more equitable policies that center minoritized communities and champion social justice.
