A native of Omaha, NE, he received his MD from Creighton University School of Medicine and stayed at Creighton to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Ruma joined Perinatal Associates of New Mexico in 2008 after completing his fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of North Carolina. He also received a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Administration from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina.
He has presented at several national and international conferences on a variety of topics and is the author of peer-reviewed manuscripts on maternal red blood cell sensitization, the effects of periodontal disease on pregnancy, efficiency in obstetric ultrasound performance, preterm labor standardization and the harmful effect of prior authorization on medical practice.
As a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist, Dr. Ruma’s top priority is caring for patients with a high risk pregnancy.
