Nisha Verma, MD, MPH, was born in Greensboro, NC to Indian immigrant parents. She received her Bachelor’s in Biology and Anthropology and her medical degree from the University of North Carolina. She graduated from OB/GYN residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and completed her Complex Family Planning Fellowship and Master’s in Public Health degree at Emory University. She served as the Darney/Landy Fellow at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is now Assistant Professor in the Division of Family Planning at Emory University. She is particularly passionate about improving access to reproductive healthcare in the US Southeast, which is her home, and has expertise in effective messaging techniques on complicated topics like abortion. Currently, she has a research grant to explore the impact of Georgia's six-week abortion ban on people with high-risk pregnancies in the state.
