Dr. Zieman advocates for reproductive rights, and has published Op-Eds in Newsweek, Ms. Magazine, NBC News, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. She trained in OB/GYN at NY-Presbyterian and completed a Fellowship in Family Planning at U.C.S.F. She is the former Director of Family Planning for Emory University School of Medicine where she founded the Fellowship in Family Planning. She served as the C.M.O. of Planned Parenthood Southeast, and as a VP of research and development for a women's health startup. She was a founding member of the Society of Family Planning, author of 16 editions of Managing Contraception, and served on the CDC committees that adapted the Medical Eligibility for Contraceptive Use and the Selected Practice Guidelines for the U.S. Population. She has written a play, The Post-Roe Monologues, and a memoir, Tap Dancing on Everest, about being the doctor on a historic Everest team in Tibet.
